During the Noya Rao Voice of Light Retreat

What to Expect

line maste verde

This unique retreat combines the sacred practice of Master Plant Dieta with vocal exploration and ayahuasca ceremonies, all held in deep connection with the spirit of Noya Rao. Guided by an experienced vocal artist and musician, you’ll be invited to explore your voice as a spiritual tool—through sound, vibration, and song—within the context of Shipibo plant medicine tradition.

For many of us, the voice has been silenced by shame or fear—conditioned to believe that we’re “not good enough” to sing. This retreat offers a healing path to reclaim the power of your voice. Through mindful and embodied vocal practices, you’ll gently dissolve limiting beliefs and reconnect with your authentic expression.

In modern Western culture, many are discouraged from singing beyond childhood. Yet, singing remains one of the most direct and potent ways to transmute emotional blocks and open channels of communication with spirit. In Shipibo tradition, song is not just expression—it is a bridge between the human and plant worlds.

Within a traditional Master Plant Dieta, the student enters into sacred relationship with the plant spirit through sound. As the dieta deepens, the spirit may offer a melody—an icaro—as a form of communion. This melodic bond becomes the vessel through which healing, gratitude, prayer, and wisdom are exchanged.

To support your journey, you’ll receive daily guidance through breathwork, chanting, vocal improvisation, and practices designed to open the voice. No singing experience is needed—just a willingness to listen, express, and explore the spiritual language of sound.

  • Guided by Shipibo Healers

Work with respected Shipibo maestros who carry deep ancestral knowledge of plant medicine and the sacred use of icaros. In this retreat, their guidance will support your dieta with Noya Rao, creating a container where sound, energy, and spirit meet.

  • Sacred Ceremonies in the Heart of the Amazon

Participate in traditional Ayahuasca ceremonies in a safe and intentional setting. Each ceremony offers a sacred space for deep listening, healing, and the emergence of your unique spiritual voice, guided by the plant spirit of Noya Rao.

  • Vocal Activation & Personalized Healing

Explore your voice as a channel for healing and self-expression. Through breathwork, chanting, and guided vocal practices, you’ll reconnect with your inner sound in a trauma-informed and supportive space—no prior singing experience required.

  • Master Plant Dieta: Noya Rao

Engage in a traditional Master Plant Dieta with Noya Rao, the Tree of Light. Through silence, intention, and song, you’ll cultivate a relationship with her spirit—one that may offer melodies, visions, or guidance to illuminate your personal path.

  • Support Beyond the Medicine

Beyond ceremonies and vocal work, the retreat includes jungle walks, floral baths, integrative practices, and space for rest. This holistic approach supports your body, mind, and spirit—helping you carry the teachings of Noya Rao into your daily life.

  • Trauma-Informed & Culturally Rooted

This retreat honors the Shipibo tradition while integrating modern therapeutic principles. All practices are held in a respectful, grounded, and inclusive way, allowing your process to unfold safely, guided by the wisdom of the plants and the power of the voice.

Noya Rao and the Healing Power of Sound

line maste verde

At the heart of this retreat lies the sacred Master Plant Dieta with Noya Rao, also known as the Tree of Light—a rare and revered plant in the Amazon, honored by the Mahua Shipibo lineage. In Shipibo, she is called “Camino a la Verdad”, or “The Path of Truth”. With only a few known living trees, Noya Rao holds a unique place in the cosmology of the forest, known for illuminating intuition, enhancing mental clarity, and deepening spiritual perception.

When paired with the practice of vocal expression and sound healing, the dieta becomes a multidimensional experience. Working with your voice as a sacred instrument amplifies the healing potential of the dieta, allowing insights to arise, emotions to move, and spiritual messages to come through in the form of melody.

This is more than a retreat—it is a return to the ancient ways of remembering. A path of self-discovery and transformation, guided by the subtle intelligence of plant medicine and the nurturing frequency of your own voice.

Shipibo Curandera

Maestra Olinda Nete Ave

Maestra Olinda, 59, hails from the depths of the Amazon rainforest, Pahoyan. Her path as a healer began under the guidence of her mother, the revered curandera of their community. From a young age, Olinda witnessed her mother’s profound connection to medicinal plants and the remarkable ways they were used to treat ailments ranging from snake bites to cancer.

At 16, Olinda began apprenticing with her mother, learning to hold Ayahuasca ceremonies and master the ancient healing methods passed down through their lineage. Her mother insisted on imparting the wisdom of their ancestors, preparing Olinda to continue the sacred tradition of healing their family and community.

When her mother passed away at the age of 35, Olinda embraced her role as the community’s curandera. She deepened her practice by undertaking rigorous Master Plant Dietas with powerful plants such as Noya Rao, Chiric Sanango, Bobinsana, Piñon Negro, Ajo Sacha, Chullachaqui Caspi, and Remo Caspi. These diets, guided solely by the plants themselves, became the cornerstone of her work.

Olinda’s practice stands out for its profound depth and authenticity. Unlike others who might study under various shamans, Olinda humbly credits the palo maestros (the master plants) as her only teachers. This direct connection with the plants has given her healing work a unique purity and profound effectiveness, resonating deeply with those who have sat with her.

Today, Maestra Olinda carries the legacy of her ancestors, offering transformative healing experiences and sharing the sacred knowledge of the Amazon with unwavering dedication. Her gentle yet powerful approach continues to inspire awe and gratitude in all who are fortunate to work with her.

I am Shika. I am born in Canada and ancestral roots from the Island of St.Lucia. My intention is bring souls home to self through the healing of plants, somatic healing, connecting with the wisdom of the elders, community and working with the elements. Also, helping other being connect with their unique gifts and share it with this world.

Started my jounrey as a public relations and marketing director at a young age. After going through physical trauma, my whole life got turned upside down and by body began to shut down. I then started to have more vivide dreams that I head before, but after the events that happened they felt more of a reality. Yet did I know, it was aya speaking me and healing me in my dreams. I spoke toa friend and eventraully found out the women I was dreaming of was, the grandmother medicine.

Then I decided to sit with aya and through that first experience and since then my life has been a jounrey of coming home to my self again and again and again. This brings me to the doors that opened and what has happened for the past 7+ years that brought me to guide souls back home too.

I am a breathwork facilitator trained by Sacred Breath Academy. I went through a 1.5 years training learning how to regulate the nervous system in a trauma informed way while helping souls integrate plant medicine ceremonies with breathwork.

I also support other plant medicines as well such as hape, flowers, herbs, sananga and mushrooms. After being able to heal my PTSD, endometroisis, candida, trauma, chronic pain, insomnia, addiction, depression and anxiety with these plants, it has brought me back to the ancient wisdom of my ancestors and and nature again and again. I am continuing my studies in Herbal medicine with Ecovercity and continuing to offer support to souls feeling called to work with the plants and their truth and divinity through 1:1 healing, retreats and the Earth Dhrama Program ( teaching souls to step into their dharma with the support of community, nature and the elements).
