We are staffed by a group of dedicated, safety-conscious professionals with many decades of combined experience with plant medicines, working with native plant medicines, and life in the Amazon.

We host ayahuasca retreats several times throughout the year, making sure that we keep our attendee numbers low for each retreat to ensure a highly attentive and personalized retreat experience for all attendees.
We are blessed and honored to work with a number of curanderos from the Shipibo-Conibo tribe of the Amazonian Basin. The AYA Healing Retreats center is located in the land owned by the curandero family and our philosophy of transformational care is founded in the loving concern that our curanderos have for our retreat attendees and for all life in the world. Our ayahuasca retreats are designed and led by the curanderos, who have worked as traditional healers in their communities for generations.
Ayahuasca ceremonies take place in a safe and intimate setting, where you are fully supported before, during, and after your journeys. And in addition to the healing plant medicine ayahuasca itself, your time during retreat is engaged with other important healing undertakings native to the traditional shamanic practices of the Amazon, including icaros, vapor baths, personal consultation with the curandero, and more. Our retreats focus on providing a holistic experience which is representative of the ancient medicinal practices developed over many centuries in the indigenous communities of the South American rainforest.
Through our many years of experience, we have become subject matter experts in preparations before your retreat and integrative practices after your retreat. Your ayahuasca journey begins long before arriving in Peru. The preparatory guidance which we provide to all of our attendees before arriving is highly refined and effective, aligning you to a path forward that encourages getting the absolute most out of your ayahuasca retreat experience. And our emphasis on ayahuasca integration ensures that your experience stays with you when it’s concluded.
The retreat experience at AYA Healing Retreats is designed to provide more than simply ayahuasca ceremonies. The traditional healing of the Shipibo-Conibo shamans use a great many other natural practices into their work and your retreat experience reflects that. Our attendees undergo a master plant dieta – a tailored diet to match your individual being and incorporating one or more powerful curative native plants. The dieta is an important part of experiencing authentic and effective plant medicine treatment.
In addition to our ayahusaca retreats, AYA Healing Retreats offers an extended Shamanic Initiation training, an intensive mentorship lasting 26 days under the close supervision of a maestro curandero. Our Shaman training accepts a limited number of students to work closely with a curandero, undergoing a strict dieta while learning and practicing in depth the ancient shamanic healing work of the Shipibo-Conibo people. The next Shamanic Initiation training starts in June, 2025.
AYA Healing Retreats also hosts ayahuasca retreats which incorporate the a powerful dieta incorporating the use of the Noya Rao tree, of which only a few specimens are known to exist. The Noya Rao tree is one of the most revered plant spirits in the traditional medicinal practices of Amazonian healers. The Noya Rao Voice of Light retreat emphasizes the power of voice by combining ayahuasca plant medicine, a Noya Rao dieta, and leadership from a renowned musician and vocalist. This powerful retreat activates our deep and intrinsic connection to sound and vibration. The next Noya Rao Voice of Light retreat starts in February, 2025.
Our Empowering the Divine Feminine Women’s retreat, led by our curandera Juanita, is a yearly event that creates a healing and empowering space for sisterhood. Female attendees engage in a wealth of constructive, empowering, therapeutic practices, which along with ayahusaca and other plant medicines are curated to work in symbiosis for you to embody your divine feminine essence. The next Divine Feminine retreat starts in May, 2025.
In addition to ayahuasca retreats, we also host kambo practitioner trainings. Our kambo practitioner program is led by a local Maestro healer with extensive experience in working with kambo, along with our own kambo expert Kris, who has lived, worked, and studied in the Amazon with native healers for years. The next Kambo Training will occur in April 2025.
AYA Healing Retreats has invested progressively over several years to create a safe, welcoming, peaceful environment in which to welcome you. Located a short distance from the city of Iquitos, our retreat center is called El Encanto de Chullachaqui.
El Encanto de Chullachaqui is located in the tropical Peruvian rainforest, surrounded by the uniquely beautiful nature that can only be felt in the Amazon. Built with locally-sourced materials and native construction practices, the center is equipped with private accommodations which are mosquito-proof and have double beds, private bathrooms with showers, and full privacy, with spectacular views of the Amazon rainforest.
The retreat center is home to a beautiful ceremonial house, called a Maloca, where ayahuasca rituals take place under the leadership of our master curanderos. Meals are cooked fresh in the center’s main kitchen and served in the central dining area where everyone comes together for conversation and eating the locally-sourced food provided daily.
Our retreat center is located in the heart of the Peruvian Amazon, in the Province of Maynas and the Loreto Region of Peru. The retreat center is located a short distance from the regional capital city of Iquitos. Iquitos is the closest major city to our home in the jungle and the place where we pick you up to complete the final leg of the journey to our beautiful retreat center in the jungle. Iquitos is an interesting city, full of history and culture. Many retreat attendees make time of their own either before or after their retreat to explore the city.

Each retreat group consists of a maximum of 12-15 participants. Small numbers ensure that we can adequately guarantee everyone’s safety during their time with us. Your curandero or curandera of the Shipibo tradition, two English speaking facilitators and one ceremonial assistant will be present at each plant medicine ritual to fully supervise and support guests through the healing process.
