Chullachaqui Caspi Dieta

This plant, has great spiritual significance across many shamanic tribes within the Amazon. It is named after the myth of Chullachaqui, due to the roots of the tree forming a ‘twisted foot’ reminiscent of the great legend of the jungle.

Chullachaqui caspi also serves deep spiritual purposes, allowing the dietero to connect to the deep intelligence of the ancient plant spirits within this great tree.

Acting as a guardian and protector to the student, this plant offers true wisdom of the forest, opening the dietero up to many other master plants. With profound grounding properties, it can significantly settle anxiety and a scattered mind, bringing the body into deep union with nature.

Our home and main center for ayahuasca ceremonies is named after this powerful spirit’s charm, El Encanto De Chullachaqui.

The Myth of Chullachaqui

In Amazonian mythology, Chullachaqui holds an important place. The plant thrives in sandy conditions where roots are exposed, and often twisted. Giving it it’s name, after the twisted foot of the Peruvian legend.

One haunting tale states that if you find yourself face to face with a close friend unexpectedly, it may be the mischievous chullachaqui who has morphed to take their form. Eagerly, he will lead you into the jungle, astray. If you follow, you may never find your way out.

Important to note, a large amount of people in South America believe that it is no myth, but a very real being. There have been reported instances where photographs have been taken of the mysterious forest dweller. However, just what he is capable of is debated.

Another common report is confronted by a very short man in old rags, waving his closed fists in the air looking for a fight. The myth also states that he has the ability to transform into any animal of the rainforest. He is revered as a forest spirit guardian who will punish men who break the sacred laws of the forest. They are known as an older race than humans, inhabiting deep within the jungle.

If you ever thought of bringing a young child to the jungle with you, don’t take your eyes off them. The evil chullachaqui is said to attract a child by morphing into a playmate or mother, lure them into the jungle, and raise them as their own. One way to ward him off, as well as other bad spirits, is with tobacco smoke.

This great legend is one of the most popular in Peruvian folklore about the Amazon rainforest. However, reports vary from him being friendly and offering gifts, and an aggressive trickster. In any case, when exploring the Amazon – stick close to your guide. If you do get separated and your guide finds you? Take a look at his feet, it could be Chullachaqui trying to lure you, but he cannot hide his twisted foot!
